The Waves are the Champs

The Word Hunters celebrate their second place finish
with their teacher, Ms. Jaime.
After three exciting rounds of competition in the EGAP 4 Word Cup, it was the Waves that rose to the top and claimed the Word Cup Trophy and the Champions Medals.  The final was a thrilling match that also included the Dreamy Girls, Mafi Meshkala and the Word Hunters.  The Waves struggled at the start of the first game and it looked like the Dreamy Girls were destined to take the early lead, but an unfortunate mistake sent them back to zero and opened the door for the three other teams.  It looked like the Word Hunters were going to seize the opportunity, but the Waves made a late surge to win the first game.  The second game was completely dominated by the Waves, so when the third match started, the Waves were already assured of the trophy.  However, there was still a thrilling battle for second place in the third and final game.  Mafi Meshkala, the Dreamy Girls and the Word Hunters were all fighting for the coveted runners-up medals in a game that turned out to be the closest of all.  The Word Hunters had a huge lead at one point, but the Dreamy Girls found their form towards the end.  Both teams had successfully identified 10 words at the same time when the Word Hunters kept their cool and switched into high gear as their adoring fans screamed with delight.  Sadly, the Dreamy Girls saw their hopes dashed by a single, painful point.

Congratulations to Fatema Ibrahim, Laila Abdullrahman, Reem Abdullah and Salma Khadem on your fine victory for the Waves and Section 2.  Thanks also to all of the students that participated and teachers that made this another successful Word Cup.

Opening Matches and Words

The opening matches of the EGAP 4 Word Cup are now set for Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00.  The eight teams that have been registered will be playing in two groups of four teams each.  It is a battle for survival, so when the opening matches are finished, only six teams will remain.

To prepare for the first match, you will want to review the word list that will be used on Tuesday.  Good luck everyone on your first step of the journey towards the coveted cup!

It's EGAP 4's Turn

The Word Cup trophy might not be this big, but you'll be
as happy as Ronaldo when you win the Word Cup.
Finally!  The ABP Word Cup has come to EGAP 4.  You've been waiting all semester for a chance to show your vocabulary brilliance  and now your chance has arrived!  If you like to feel the rush of competition, enjoy fun break time activities with your friends and find new ways to improve your English at Zayed University, then this game is for you.  Registration is open now and the matches will start next Sunday, November 18th.  Every match is extremely important because the best teams get to keep playing, but the worst teams may be eliminated from the competition. After several rounds of matches, the four remaining teams will compete for the trophy and medals on Wednesday, November 28th.

The games are played on the popular QuizletLive website and use all of the vocabulary words you've been learning this semester.  We will post the words you'll need to know for each match at least two days before your match, so you can be prepared to win every game.  Each team can have three or four players from any EGAP 4 section.

So what are you waiting for?  Get your team together and sign up now.
